PART 3
CLOUD COMPUTING MODELS
We will discuss each model one by one in detail.
FIRST MODEL
SaaS (Software as a service)
Just think that you need not to install a software on your system. All we have to do is to go to the website of service provider to use that software.
i.e SaaS provides users to access large variety of applications (i.e. Software) over internet that are hosted on service provider's infrastructure. for eg: Pixlr.com, google docs.
SECOND MODEL
IaaS (Infrastructure as a service)
IaaS provides computers, more often virtual machines and other resources (Storage Space) as service.
Lets clear this topic with some examples;
Amazon EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud)
Using Amazon EC2 eliminates your need to invest in hardware up front, so you can use Amazon EC2 to launch as many or as few virtual servers as you need, configure security, networking and manage storage.
Take another eg; like gmail.com provides us storage space up to 15 GB.
THIRD MODEL
PaaS (Platform as a service)
PaaS provides Operating System and Development Environment. It doesn't provide Applications (Software). Client has to develop and manage his application on the cloud infrastructure.
For eg: Amazon AWS Elastic Beanstalk
Is an easy to use service for deploying and scaling web applications developed with JAVA, .NET, PHP etc. You simply upload your code ( program coding) and elastic beanstalk automatically handles the deployment form capacity provisioning, load balancing, auto scaling to application health monitoring.
FOURTH MODEL
NaaS (Network as a Service)
Here NaaS provides Network Connecting Services. Lets understand this with an example........
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a network that is constructed by using public wires (i.e internet) to connect to a private network ( such as a company intranet).
There are number of systems that enables you to create networks using internet as a medium for transporting data. These systems use encryption and other security measures to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data can't be intercepted.
NaaS involves optimization of resource allocation by considering network and computing resources as a whole.
how????????????????????
Once a computer is connected to internet it becomes a part of the network. So, when say 10 computers are connected through one wire and one processor ( CPU), the processing power of CPU is distributed among different computers according to their workload. So this is what is called optimization of resource allocation by considering network and computing resources as a whole.
FIFTH MODEL
CaaS (Communication as a Service)
Simply Known as Outsourcing of Enterprise Communication. The CaaS vendor is responsible for all hardware and software management and offers guaranteed quality of service.
Feature: Pay as you use basis.
Eg: VoIP ( Voice over internet protocol is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband internet connection instead of regular phone line.)
IM (instant messaging is real time text transmission over the internet.)
