Mobile Computing
Mobile Computing means sending and receiving data via mobile network. Previously mobiles were used for sending and receiving voice signals but now they are used for data transmission also.
Mobile Computing in practical manner means deployment of software (on computer) on mobiles as applications.
Now, these applications can be deployed on different operating systems like Android, iOS, windows , ,Blackberry, java, symbian etc.
Benefits of mobile computing
1.) Information can be shared anywhere and anytime.
2.) Those who have mobiles can access corporate services anywhere, anytime
For example: Employee self services like apply for leave. So, with introduction of Leave application software on mobile we can apply for leave via mobile for anywhere, anytime.
3.) Update of information in as and when it take place with the help of mobile.
4.) Corporate do have some knowledge base (learning modules, training modules, corporate library). So, via mobile we can access this library anywhere, anytime.
5.) It improves management effectiveness and control over mobile workforce.
Taking our previous example,
* we have applied for leave via mobile. Our manager approves the leave and he has enough time to deploy our work to somebody else, therefore it improves management effectiveness as well as provide control over mobile workforce.
