Chapter 8
Emerging Technologies
PART 2
Goals of Cloud Computing
1.) Pooling of resources: It means common resources can be shared between many users.
2.) Cost: Cost of using cloud are aligned to what resources are actually used.
3.) Highly efficient IT system: why??? because of load balancing feature. (Read part 1)
4.) Anywhere Access: Applications can be accessed from anywhere using internet.
5.) Cost Effectiveness: Due to pay as you use feature.
6.) Scalability
Cloud Computing architecture means the overall structure of the cloud system, which consists of many hardware and software resources put together. It consists of front end and a back end.
FRONT END
Client + Application part (see diagram) = Which are needed to access cloud computing system. Theses can be different for different service providers. ( remember API Discussed under part 1)
Front end can be specific client applications or web browsers.
Like Instagram application on google play.-----------------------specific client application.
It can also be accessed via web browser like chrome.
BACK END
Back End means cloud itself.
Therefore (CLOUD= PLATFORM + INFRASTRUCTURE + SERVER.) SEE DIAGRAM.
i.e. it consists of various devices, data storage systems, servers.
IT ALSO CONSIST OF CENTRAL SERVER.........................................
just for knowledge..
A central server is established to be used for administering the whole system. It is also used for monitoring client demand as well as traffic to ensure that everything of system runs out without any problem. There are some set of rules which are followed by this server called middle-ware.
We can run any type of application on cloud be it games (POKER), videos, entertainment, data processing (Google docs) or software development. (we will talk about software development later on.)
Types of Clouds or we can say cloud computing environment
1. Public wala cloud i.e public cloud
* Can be used by general public
* Service of cloud is provided by third party for eg. google providing search engine.
* Pay as you use
* It support software as a service model. for eg: Online photo editing sites (these sites are actually softwares provided via internet as a service.)
Advantages:
1.) Low Cost
2.) Scalable
Limitation:
1.) Security assurance
2. Private cloud
* Used by individual organizations only.
* Developed internally by organizations who seek to optimize utilization of infrastructure resources within the enterprise. They do so by using grid computing and virtualization.
just for knowledge...........
What is Virtualization
Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (i.e online form) version of something, such as an operating system, a server, a storage device or network resources. There are three areas of IT where virtualization is making headroads, network virtualization, storage virtualization and server virtualization..
Advantages to organization;
1.) Improves internal server utilization.
2.) Reduces operational cost to company.
Limitation:
It requires High initial investment for company.
Ab aata hai sabka baap.....................................................................
3. Hybrid cloud
Simply Hybrid = Public + Private
Formed by partnership between public cloud vendor and private cloud vendor.
